Student Permits
Vehicle Registration and permit purchases can be completed throughout the year on a space-available basis.
First-year Resident Students can purchase D lot permits on Thursday, August 6, at 8 a.m.; The option to join a wait list for the A2 (College Hill) and B2 (Central/West End) permits will only become available after these permits have completely sold out.
If your preferred lot is sold out, you must first purchase a permit that is available. You can then join the wait list for your desired lot once the wait list option becomes active in the parking portal.
Returning Resident Students can purchase a permit for the A2 or B2 zone on Tuesday, August 4, at 8 a.m. You must have completed at least 1 ECU credit hour to be considered a returning student.
Commuter Students can purchase permits beginning Wednesday, August 11, at 8 a.m.
Additional A2 parking spaces are located in the upper Minges lot at the Football Stadium, please see map.
Student permits are purchased according to availability, living arrangements and will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Freshman/First year ECU students are allowed to have vehicles parked on campus. Priority for permit sales will not be considered under any circumstance.
Annual student parking permits are valid for the academic year, specifically from August 1 to July 31 of the following year. Semester permits are available with the following validity periods: August 1 to December 31 (Fall semester) and January 1 to May (Spring semester). All student permits must be purchased before parking on campus and are not automatically renewed.
Permits can be purchased online via Pirate Port. Once a permit is sold out, you can join the waitlist on the Parking Portal through Pirate Port. Students will be notified via ECU email when space becomes available.
Permits are not transferable and the Parking Office must be notified via email at parking@ecu.edu or call (252) 328-6294, if you leave school or no longer wish to park. Please see our Refund Policy.
NOTE: you must park HEAD-IN. Pulling through or backing into a space is not allowed unless you have a state-issued or ECU-issued license plate. Parallel parking must be with the flow of traffic. This is for the LPR camera to be able to read your license plate.

Returning Resident Students – Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 8 a.m.
First Year Resident Students – Thursday, Aug. 6, at 8 a.m.
Main Campus & Health Science Campus Commuter Permits will be available for purchase beginning Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 8 a.m.
Permits can be purchased through PiratePort. Permit sales will continue as space allows after which you may apply for the waiting list.
