Bike Permits & Impounds

Bike Permits

Bicycles parked on campus must be registered and displaying a valid bike permit.  Unlike the vehicle parking permits, the Bicycle permits are valid for the entire time you are here at ECU, so you do not have to register them every year – unless you get a new bike. Bicycle permits free of charge.  There is a small registration card that is completed in our office to receive a bicycle permit, or, they can be ordered online through your parking account in Pirate Port by following the same process for ordering a vehicle parking permit. You will need the serial number from the bike when registering.  Once the registration is complete, please stop by our office on 305 East 10th St. to pick up the permit.  Bikes must be stored on a bike rack on campus with the ECU bicycle permit or will be subject to be impounded.

Bike Impounds

Please note that any bicycle that has been chained to anything other than a bike rack will be impounded.  Cut locks will not be replaced.  Other reasons bicycles are impounded include vandalism, flat tires, and if it has been left unattended for several months.

There is a $20 administrative fee for impounded bikes that must be paid before the bike will be released.  Please bring with your proof of ownership.   Acceptable proof of ownership includes receipt of purchase or photo of you on the bike.  Payment can be made at the parking office on 10th Street during our normal operating hours.
